As COVID-19 cases increase across Iowa, several electric companies are also taking steps to protect employees and the public.

Midland Power Cooperative has closed all of its office lobby locations to the public. They have also reduced the number of staff answering phones and individuals who do call may be given a different phone number to reach the appropriate person.

Additionally, Alliant Energy has temporarily suspended all disconnections and is planning to waive late fees to Iowa customers while the public health emergency is in place. The electric company donated $100,000 to its foundation to help non-profits and directly assist community needs in response to COVID-19.
