2020 high school football schedules were released yesterday by the Iowa High School Athletic Association. Greene County has five of the nine regular season games at home and two of the four road trips are short ones.

The first four games are non-district and Rams open the season on August 28 in Perry in the annual renewal of the “Cowbell” series. South Central Calhoun visits Linduska Field for the home opener for Greene County on Sept. 4, followed by another home game on Sept. 11 with Southeast Valley. Sept. 18 has the Rams at Carroll Athletic Field vs. Kuemper Catholic to close out non-district play.

The Rams are in Class 2A District 9 and they host Atlantic on Sept. 25, followed by Des Moines Christian at Linduska Field on Oct. 2. A trip to Red Oak is on Oct. 9, followed by the home finale on Oct. 16 with Clarinda, and week nine on Oct. 23 has the Rams going to Shenandoah for the second year in a row.

Greene County is coming off back-to-back 8-1 regular season records and a pair of playoff appearances. A few starters return that played in 2019, but the majority were seniors last fall.
