“Breaking news, with Payton Douglass. Panorama has no school for three weeks, and since our school is the greatest school in Iowa they will be featuring a virtual spirit week.”

It didn’t take a big sporting event, or even school being in session for the Panorama community to show their Panther spirit this week, with just a few clicks on their computer or smartphone. A week into the four-week-long closure for the school district, the high school student council brainstormed how to keep students, staff, and parents connected and have some fun while staying at home. As heard earlier, Student Council President Payton Douglass filmed a video announcing their “Virtual Spirit Week,” with the community encouraged to post photos of themselves for the theme days including pajamas, pets, favorite snacks, books they’re reading, and spirit day. These photos have been shared on the district’s social media pages, with the hashtag #SharePantherSpirit.

Douglass comments on the reception she’s seen from Panthers young and old, “Well, I love to see it, I love watching our community stay involved and participate because it’s always a worry. Like you don’t want to do something and no one wants to do it. So I love seeing everybody show their dogs or their dressing up or reading, and I think it’s an awesome way to stay connected over this month-long break.”

The West Central Valley School District is celebrating a “Homestaying” as well with a spirit week March 30th-April 3rd.
