The number of deaths in Iowa related to the novel coronavirus 2019 pandemic has increased, with two more bringing the total to three across the state.

The Iowa Department of Public Health announced Friday that an adult over 81-years-old in Poweshiek County and one between ages 61-80 in Allamakee County passed away due to complications of COVID-19. The first person in Iowa to die to the virus was an individual from Dubuque County between the ages 61-80. In addition to the deaths, the IDPH announced there were 56 new cases of coronavirus in the state since Thursday, including two more in Dallas County, bringing the statewide total to 235. The number of patients in Dallas is now up to nine, and the newest cases include an adult between ages 18-40, and one over age 81.

Governor Kim Reynolds points out there have been over 3,700 negative tests in the state to this point. Of the confirmed tests, 125 have been female and 110 are male. As for the age ranges of patients, one is under age 17, 55 are between 18-40, 85 are between 41-60, 82 are between 61-80, and 12 are over 81.
