Manufacturing is one of Greene County’s main economic feeds, and some businesses are being impacted by the 2019 novel coronavirus.

Vice President of Sales and Marketing for New Way Trucks and McLaughlin Family Companies Don Ross says Scranton Manufacturing has adopted all of the best practices that have been recommended to keep their business running as normal as possible. Ross points out they have spread out employees to adhere to no more than ten people in one room and heightened their cleaning protocols. Some employees have been allowed to work from home.

Ross explains a recent designation they received about Scranton Manufacturing from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.“The solid waste or waste collection industry is part of public works critical infrastructure. As you know we’re a manufacturer of waste collection equipment, and we’re a part of that group. We’re considered an essential industry and we’re going to continue working for as long as we can.”

American Athletic Incorporated/Spaulding General Manager Steve Kohl tells Raccoon Valley Radio the production facility has been  shut down and they have been in contact with their suppliers. AAI has also offered employees the option to work from home, or they can file for unemployment. They have also increased their cleaning protocols.
