A Panorama student received top honors for her pig knowledge recently during the annual Swine Spectacular at the Hansen Agriculture Student Learning Center in Ames.
Sixteen-year-old Reagan Gibson of Panora placed third in the senior division sweepstakes competition which included photo and essay entries, swine judging, a skill-a-thon, a written test, and taking part in a workshop provided by a group of Iowa State University students studying animal science. Gibson also gave an extemporaneous speech with the other top youth. Gibson and the second place finisher both received a special Swine Spectacular blanket. The event was presented by the Iowa Pork Producers Association, held in conjunction with ISU Block & Bridle Club’s Spring Market Hog Show.
