At their most recent meeting, the Perry City Council approved two annual citywide disposal procedures, setting the date for their community junk drop-off day and the yard waste pick-up schedule.
City Administrator Sven Peterson says the junk drop-off will be Saturday, June 6th, from 8 a.m. – noon at the Pattee Park parking lot. The cost to participate is unchanged from last year, with $5 per car load, $15 for a truck load, and $30 for a large load. Peterson says the drop-off event has been well received the last couple years, and it looks like it will be sticking around. “This will be the third year of us doing our new system of a community-wide drop-off day instead of our curbside spring cleanup. So you can bring in loads of unwanted junk and drop that off. We’ll also be accepting appliances and scrap metal at no charge.”
Peterson also reminds residents that they can get rid of junk for free all year by taking advantage of the City’s dumpster sharing program. As for the yard waste pick-up, he says it will run Wednesdays from April 1st through December 9th. Crews will once again rotate between the north and south side of Willis Avenue each week, with a schedule provided in residents’ April water bill.
