The City of Jefferson had to respond quickly following Governor Kim Reynolds’ public health disaster proclamation last week.
City Hall, the public library and the Greene County Community Center were closed to the public, but staff continued to work inside each facility. With the exception of the closed buildings, Mayor Matt Gordon says all departments are running as normal, and describes what the feedback has been like from city employees.
“It’s been very positive. We have great city employees, they’re adapting well. Everybody’s just had a good attitude about it. Pretty unprecedented times that we’re going through and everybody is working really, really well together to get through this.”
Gordon notes he’s been in contact with Governor Reynolds and talks about that conversation.
“Just discussed what’s going on and if the City needs something just get it in writing to her, and carry on the best that you can. (She) Recommended the social distancing and not having all of your city leaders together in one room. Have as many people stay home and use the electronic and technology that we have to still conduct business.”
Gordon adds, residents can still pay water bills through the drop box at City Hall or if paying with cash, can do so by dropping it off to a staff member.
