A 2019 novel coronavirus relief bill was recently signed into law by President Donald Trump.

The bill started in the House, where Republican Steve King and 39 other members of congress voted “no.” King says from the time the bill was filed at 12:01am March 14th, to the time the vote was taken on the House floor, at 12:28am, he felt the bill had been rushed through the process. He points out he never saw the bill and no amendments to it were allowed. King describes another reason why he voted against the legislation.

“I needed to send a message to the Senate that if you find out that this bill is a mess, you’ve got a little bit of cover over here in the House and people are going to have your back. If the bill had passed unanimously and gone over to the Senate it’s awfully hard to take it apart, fix it (and) send it back to us (in the House). The temptations to send to the President are great.”

The Senate passed the bill last Wednesday and President Trump signed it into law. Sources say parts of the new law include emergency paid sick
