Another Democrat candidate is running for the open Iowa Senate seat that covers Greene County.

Cynthia Paschen lives in Ames. She grew up in a military family that moved to several places including Illinois and Minnesota. Her family moved to Ames, where she has been living since. Paschen is an Ames High graduate and earned a newspaper journalism degree from Iowa State University in 1982. She has most recently been a volunteer with Mary Greeley Hospice. 

Paschen entered the race for Iowa Senate District 24, following an event with the Boone County Democrats at the Boone County Fairgrounds in early March. She says she wants to listen to constituents of the 24th District and represent them at the Statehouse. 

Paschen is running against Keith Puntenney of Boone for the Democratic nomination in the June Primary election.
