The three daycare facilities in Greene County have made plans to temporarily close due to the heightened concern of COVID-19.

Greene County Early Learning Center Director Cherie Cerveny says they are closed today and will reassess the situation April 1st, and are hoping to open again by April 6th. She tells Raccoon Valley Radio while it certainly wasn’t an easy decision for her and the Board to make, they did it with the two-week-old to 12-year-old kids in mind.

“Well the safety and well being of the children in our care is of our primary concern. But with the fast spreading virus we wanted to be proactive. The decision was made as a precaution. We just felt like it was an important step in caring for the kids the best way that we can.”

The Paton-Churdan Early Learning Center closed earlier this week and they also hope to be open April 1st. Natural Wonders Owner Nicole Timmons says their facility is also closing today with hopes to be open by April 3rd. Each facility echoed the comments by Cerveny, saying the closures are a part of keeping kids safe and preventing the potential spread of the novel coronavirus-19.
