Greene County Public Health has released new information regarding recommendations against the novel coronavirus-2019.
Director Becky Wolf says COVID-19 is continuing to circulate in Iowa communities and with more people likely to become ill, public health has new recommendations to prevent the spread of the virus. She says people need to stay home and isolate themselves from others if they have taken a cruise anywhere in the world in the past 14 days, traveled to another country with a level three travel warning within the last 14 days or come into close contact with a suspected or confirmed COVID-19 individual within the last 14 days.
Wolf points out, if individuals have symptoms of the virus, including fever, coughing or shortness of breath, they are encouraged to stay home and isolate themselves until they have met these criteria: have no fever for at least 72 hours (three days of no fever without using medicine or fever reducers), other symptoms have improved; and allowing at least seven days to pass since the symptoms first appeared. Wolf stresses if these criteria are not met, the individual should continue to stay in isolation.
