Even though all Perry city buildings are currently closed to the public in an effort to prevent the spread of 2019 novel coronavirus, one facility has found a new way to serve the community.
The Perry Public Library is now offering curbside book service to patrons, which will allow people to check out books while still practicing social distancing. City Administrator Sven Peterson thought it was a good idea and encourages residents to take advantage of the program to beat their COVID-19 isolation blues. “So you can actually call ahead and either order books, or I think they’ll even kind of be your ‘book concierge’ and pick out some books that they think you would enjoy. They’ll set them out and you can come and pick them up right off of Railroad Street. So excellent services coming out of there!”
Anyone interested in utilizing the curbside book service can call the library at 515-465-3569 Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. – 7 p.m., Friday from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m., and Saturday from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Staff asks that patrons allow adequate time for items to be gathered, and call the library when outside for pickup. As a reminder, late fines have been suspended while the library is closed. To learn more about the program, click the link below to visit the library’s website.
