Residents needing food assistance during the unprecedented novel coronavirus 2019 situation in Iowa can seek free resources in Guthrie County.
The Stuart Cottage Pantry remains open to anyone living in the West Central Valley School District, and residents can come pick up food from 1:30-4:45 p.m. Wednesdays. Coordinator Vy Jones tells Raccoon Valley Radio that they are taking precautions to keep the public’s health a priority, “When the clients come they can longer come in the building as long as this coronavirus is rampant. We will just take the grocery order slip out, we will fill it out for them, they can tell us what they want and we will fill their order and take that back out to them out in the parking.”
Services are also still available from the New Opportunities Guthrie County Family Development Center at Guthrie Center City Hall. However, the waiting room is closed until further notice. For more information on accessing their food pantry call 641-747-3845. Operations continue as normal at the Panora Food Pantry located at Faith Bible Church, which is open to all Guthrie County and Linden residents by appointment only, by calling 641-755-3034. Jones also highly encourages elderly Stuart residents to contact the cottage pantry at 515-523-1350 as they will deliver food if needed.
