Amid all the closures in the area related to the spread of 2019 novel coronavirus, one important public service will continue to operate. However, patrons are advised of some operation changes.
The Perry Area Food Pantry will remain open for the foreseeable future in order to ensure residents needing food assistance are served as they need. The pantry location at the Rowley Masonic Community was closed Tuesday so volunteers could thoroughly sanitize the facility. They will reopen Thursday for their regular hours from 1-3:30 p.m., as well as subsequent Tuesdays from 10 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
Site Manager Lou Hoger points out, though the pantry will be open, patrons will not be doing their own shopping until the COVID-19 threat has diminished. Instead, people will fill out a request sheet when they call ahead or arrive, and their orders will be filled by volunteers and then delivered to the customer outside. For more information or to schedule a food pick-up, contact Hoger at 515-570-2975.
