Boys’ high school soccer, and all Iowa high school spring sports are on hold until at least April 13, perhaps longer, due to corona virus concerns. When, and if, the soccer season gets underway, the Greene County boys are expected to field a strong team.
Head Coach Carl Behne and assistant Chad Black return, as do a number of starters from the 2019 team that qualified for the Class 1A State Tournament quarterfinals, losing in overtime to eventual champion Regina of Iowa City. Coach Behne talks about the positives of having continuity on the coaching staff. “Like me, Chad is just as passionate about the game of soccer as I am, so we carry that throughout the year with the boys. Many play multiple sports, and we encourage that. We also want them touching the (soccer) ball, watching soccer, thinking about soccer, and I think that piece is also really important.”
If the season does get underway, look for the Rams to have a very competitive boys’ team.
