The Perry City Council convened Monday evening in regular session.

The meeting began with three public hearings. The first was for the fiscal year 2021 budget presentation, which was followed by approval of a resolution to adopt the budget as presented. The tax levy rate was set at $17.93 per $1,000 of taxable valuation. The second hearing was regarding a general obligation loan agreement for the McCreary Community Building renovation project, which is not to exceed $2 million. It was also approved following the hearing. The final public hearing was on a development agreement with Hotel Pattee through Perry Economic Development, for a grant not to exceed $400,000 to be paid over the next 10 years. The Council took no action on the agreement so the documents could be finalized.

In new business, they approved the yearly plans for health, dental, vision, group life, and long term disability insurance for City employees. Following that, the Council set the 2020 community drop-off day for June 6th, as well as the schedule for yard waste disposal, which will run from April 1 – December 9. Other items approved included: the reappointment of Liz Hix to the Perry Airport Commission; tax abatement applications; professional service agreements with Retail Strategies and Bolton and Menk; setting a public hearing for the application of a community development block grant for water and sewer projects; and a resolution supporting the 2020 Census.
