As construction on the new Greene County High School progresses on the northwest side of Jefferson, people sometimes ask about where the outdoor athletic facilities for the Rams will be located. Right where they are now is the answer for the immediate future.
Activities Director Todd Gordon talked with Raccoon Valley Radio about the topic. “We have a great facility in Linduska Field, along with Allensworth Field. I think eventually because we have a lot of land out there (near the new high school) new facilities could be built, but it won’t be for quite a while. I could be retired before that happens. That could be a project for the next person. The one thing I would really like to have discussion about and start to get on our radar is a new softball field owned by the school on our land.” Since 1980, high school softball in Jefferson has been played at the City Diamond on E. Lincolnway.
Construction of the new high school and Iowa Central Community College Career Academy is on schedule and set to open in August for the 2020-21 school year.
