A fundraiser that was kept relatively quiet in Guthrie County may have raised the most funds in its history for a local organization.

The Guthrie County Fair Board held its sixth annual dinner and auction March 7th at the Guthrie County Fairgrounds Event Center which was packed, with tickets only available in advance. A live auction brought in over $32,000 for a sale of about 60 items, and a silent auction of 70 items raised more than $7,000. There were also several fundraising games and themed baskets for sale which were donated by Board members and local businesses.

The proceeds collected from the event will go towards maintenance of the fairgrounds facilities, as well as the new 4-H static exhibit building which the Board pledged $100,000 towards. Board President Tyler Carney announced that evening that the 4-H clubs met their deadline this month to raise the $50,000 needed for the project, which is hoped to be completed by this year’s county fair, which takes place September 3-7.
