The Greene County Development Corporation Board met Tuesday in regular session.
During reports, it was mentioned that a town hall meeting has been scheduled for March 25th at 6:30pm at the middle school gym in Jefferson to discuss plans for the gym and middle school building, after it becomes vacant when the current high school becomes the new middle school.
GCDC Executive Director Ken Paxton then reported that the City of Jefferson was selected as a finalist for the Technology Community of the Year from the 2020 Prometheus Awards.
During the housing update, committee co-chair Nick Sorensen said the new Prison Industries home has been delivered to Jefferson, and Region XII Council of Governments is working with Tri-County Lumber to finish two additional houses in the City of Jefferson. As for Rural Housing 360, Paxton said the Paton City Council approved the program and the business sponsor will be John Deere, with the City identifying 3-4 lots to build houses on.
Paxton also mentioned that due to the fire incident with Scranton Manufacturing, they have agreed to lease the former Genesis Development building in Jefferson for six months to use an inflatable paint booth.
