The Stuart City Council approved the fiscal year 2021 budget Monday night.

Following a public hearing the Council approved the budget which contains a tax levy rate of about $16.49 per $1,000 of valuated regular property, and about $3 per $1,000 of valuated agricultural property. Next, they approved a city property insurance renewal with United Risk Services, LLC. with a premium of $74,598 for the next fiscal year and a $2,500 property deductible.

In other items, the Council approved the fiscal year 2019 audit report from Faller, Kincheloe, & Company, PLC., a purchase of a new family slide pad priced at $5,785 for the aquatic center, and a quote from Roy Sargent Building, Inc. for repainting of doors and other repairs at the Depot for $1,388. They also approved the fourth pay estimate of about $35,795 to Concrete Technologies, Inc. for work at All Saints Addition, and directed resident Mason Hasty to continue his work converting the baseball field located closest to the soccer complex into a dog park. Discussion and action on a proposed change to the City’s code pertaining to the city administrator was tabled.
