A months-long search has wrapped up, and the Adel-DeSoto-Minburn School District has announced their new Activities Director: Rod Wiebers.
Wiebers was one of three finalists that were interviewed Wednesday by a team of coaches, administrators, directors, and School Board members. After reviewing the feedback from everyone involved in the interview process, Superintendent Greg Dufoe announced their decision Thursday afternoon. The hire is pending a required formal background check and approval by the Board. Wiebers will officially start during the summer, though he’ll work with interim AD Larry Mokelstad during the spring to ease the transition.
Wiebers spent the last 17 years as a teacher and coach in the Johnston School District. He has served as their School Administration Manager (SAM) since 2010, and has been the assistant activities director and event manager since 2014. He has a bachelor’s degree in business education from Buena Vista University, and a masters in educational administration from the University of Iowa. Wiebers said in an issued statement that he’s thrilled to join the ADM family and is eager to work with the administrators and students. Dufoe shared that excitement, adding that Wiebers brings a strong student-centered approach and well-defined plan to the District.
ADM had been without a permanent AD since Reece Satre resigned in August to take over activities at North Polk. Moklestad was the retired AD from Boone and agreed to take the job on an interim basis this school year.
