The Adel-DeSoto-Minburn Varsity Jazz Choir, nicknamed “Amp,” has been selected to perform at the upcoming Iowa Vocal Jazz Championships.

The choir last appeared at the championships in 2017 — which wrapped up a run of four straight years of competing at the highest state level, during which they placed as high as third — and now they’ll be returning after that hiatus. In order to qualify for the competition, Amp had to submit videos of two songs from their set, which were considered by a panel of adjudicators. They were one of eight groups in class 3A from around Iowa selected to perform.

The championships will be held at West Des Moines – Valley High School on Tuesday, March 24th, and it’s open to the public. Admission to the event is $10 per person, and Amp will take the stage at 4 p.m. The ADM jazz choir includes 13 vocalists in 10th-12th grade, and a two-student rhythm section.
