A Jefferson-Scranton High School graduate was recently sentenced for allegedly assaulting a U.S. Representative.
Sources say Blake Gibbins of Colorado, pled guilty to a misdemeanor assault of a member of Congress. He was sentenced to two years of probation and 200 hours of community service. The charge stemmed from a March 22, 2019 incident at a Fort Dodge restaurant. Congressman Steve King was having lunch with a group of people when Gibbins asked King who he was and King replied. Gibbins then threw a glass of water on him.
The Greene County School District previously confirmed to Raccoon Valley Radio that Gibbins was a 2010 graduate of then Jefferson-Scranton High School. King has not responded to a request for comment on the sentencing.
