As we continue to recap some of the best moments from the recent winter sports season or number to moment for AC/GC takes us back to the hardwood.
AC/GC girls basketball team not only set a school record for wins, but also did something that no other AC/GC team had done before that. The Chargers finished the regular season on a bit of a slow note as they dropped six of the last eight games before the playoffs. The Chargers did get a little bit of time to recuperate before a third match up with West Central Valley.
The Chargers and the Wildcats had split the season series with ACGC coming up with a 54 to 44 victory in Guthrie Center and West Central Valley earned revenge later on in the season 62 to 49 in Stuart. The two teams met in Stuart for the first round of the playoffs AC/GC wasted no time and earned a quick lead in the first quarter 17 to 6 and the Chargers were able to hold onto that lead to take home a 57 and 53 victory.
The win not only kept their season alive, but it was the first postseason victory in ACGC history. ACGC fell just five points short of upsetting Guthrie County foe Panorama to advance to the regional semi finals. The Chargers would end the season 11-11 setting a school record and wins. Looking forward to the 2020-21, season the Chargers will bring back their leading score in sophomore Alaina Bunde who averaged just under 10 points per game during the season.
