Brent Riley is among several track & field athletes at Greene County High School with Drake Relays and/or State Meet experience. Riley has been on relays that have run on the “Blue Oval” at Drake Stadium and he was asked if there’s a different feeling being a senior. “I have a lot more confidence going into this year and I know how to run a 400 (meters) a lot better, and a 200. I just want to run hard every time I’m on the track because it’s the last time I’m doing it and hopefully, I can reach my goals.”
Riley commented about the feeling running at Drake Stadium. “It’s really good! Especially for the 4 x 100 and 4 x 200, you’ve got to have good handoffs. All that work with the timing and everything to just make it to State is really tough. To be in the top 24 and even place (top 8) is really impressive.”
Greene County starts the indoor season next week inside the UNI-Dome in Cedar Falls at the A.D. Dickinson Relays. The girls compete on Monday and the boys go on Tuesday.
