Mobile sports betting has finally made it to Wild Rose Casino and Resort in Jefferson.

DraftKings Incorporated has launched the mobile and online sports betting app that allows anyone in Iowa, ages 21 and older, to place bets on all major U.S. sports, including professional and college football, baseball, professional and college basketball, hockey, golf, auto racing and much more. Iowa law still requires individuals to register at Wild Rose locations in the state before they can place bets through the DraftKings app. However, after January 1, 2021, individuals will no longer have to register in-person.

Wild Rose Jefferson General Manager Travis Dvorak describes his reaction to adding the mobile sports betting app.

“It’s a combination of relief and excitement. We are up a little bit later than most people, but I’m excited that we did come out with DraftKings because when you look at this, it is such a very good looking app. It’s user-friendly, it’s clean but yet it’s also robust, it has a lot of options. The reviews have been great. And I think even though we came late to the dance, we came home with the Homecoming queen on this one.”

A reminder that Iowa law will not allow for sportsbooks to accept player proposition wagers involving a university or college in the state. However, pre-match and in-game wagering on Iowa schools and their opponents is permitted.

Dvorak thanks everyone for their patience while they finalized the mobile app and he is cautiously optimistic that adding online sports betting will increase revenues at the casino.
