1:37am: A Traffic Stop at 220 th and Mulberry Streets resulted in Jeanne Beidler of Bouton being cited for, “Excessive Speed.”

12:45am: A Traffic Stop in the 100 Block of North Elm Street resulted in Julie Bentz of Jefferson being cited for, “Use of Electronic Communication Device While Driving.”

4:51am: An officer had watched a semi-tractor/trailer that was parked in the 100 Block of North Locust Street. The semi was there past the 2-hour limit allowed by city ordinance. As the officer was filling out a Parking Violation Notice, the semi drove off. The officer performed a Traffic Stop with the vehicle in the 500 Block of North Cedar Street. The officer made contact with the driver and believed he was impaired by narcotics. The officer’s investigation led to the arrest of Kurt A. Schoon, 64 of Scranton for, “OWI 1 st Offense – Serious, Possession of Controlled Substance/Meth – Serious, Possession of Controlled Substance/Marijuana – Serious, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – Simple.” Schoon was also issued a Parking Violation Notice for, “Truck/RV/Trailer Parking.”

10:47am: The Central Iowa Recovery & Counseling Center requested a Welfare Check on a male client in the 1200 Block of Westwood Drive. The officer made contact with the male, who appeared to be fine.

11:00am: Jane Alexander reported receiving a Scam Letter in the mail. She did not give out any information.

9:00pm: A male came to the LEC and gathered information on the process to a court committal for substance abuse. The officer provided the male with information.

******* An officer has requested Arrest Warrants for an Iowa City male in connection to a recent Burglary on 2/27/2020 at County Wide Electric, located at 401 East Central Ave. The suspect had also committed burglaries in Guthrie Center on the same evening and a Guthrie County Deputy had contact with him on a Traffic Stop. The clothing and physical appearance in the video from the Guthrie stop matched the suspect in video surveillance video from County Wide Electric. The requested warrants are for Dustin William Winchester, 36 of Iowa City for, “Burglary 3rd Degree/Motor Vehicle 2nd Offense – D Felony, Burglary 3rd Degree – D Felony, and Theft 2nd Degree – D Felony.”
