The Dallas Center-Grimes Boys’ Basketball team slid past a very talented ADM squad on Thursday to get to this evening’s Substate Final game with Norwalk.

The Mustangs are just one win from advancing to the State Tournament, and the only thing standing between DC-G and the Big Dance is Norwalk.

The Mustangs have been in a match-up with the Warriors of Norwalk twice already this season, but neither of those games have been favorable for DC-G in the end.  Head Coach, Joel Rankin and his Mustangs hope that the third time will be the charm.

DC-G was blown out at Norwalk in the first match-up, but adjustments were made in the second game and the Mustangs were competitive.  DC-G was within 1-2 possessions through the entire fourth quarter, but was forced to foul late in regulation to extend the game which is how the final score came to be a 10 point difference.

DC-G will need to find an answer for Tyler Johnson.  The Mustangs were able to hold UNI commit, Bowen Born to 20 points, which is 16 fewer than his average of 36 per game.  But, Norwalk’s #2 option, Senior, Tyler Johnson lit up the Mustangs for 29 points.  The two stars for the Warriors combined for 49 of the 66 Norwalk points.

Tonight’s game will be held at Valley High School in West Des Moines.  If you’re unable to attend, tune in for live, play-by-play coverage on 99.7FM and AM1310 KDLS.  You can also stream the game online at RaccoonValleyRadio.com or on the free KDLS mobile app.  Pregame coverage will begin around 6:40pm, with tip off at 7:00pm.
