Tonight is the coronation ceremony in Jefferson for the 2020 Miss Rodeo Iowa.
Greene County native Brittany Gunn was named Miss Rodeo Iowa last fall. Gunn works in the long-term care unit at Greene County Medical Center, but she will also have to balance her responsibilities as Miss Rodeo Iowa, having to travel across the country to different events. Some of those trips have already begun and Gunn describes those experiences.
“(You) Get to meet a lot of great people as far as rodeo queens, other people looking up to you or rodeo committee members, or the Miss Rodeo Iowa Board and organization. It’s just really important to be on your ‘A’ game and be inviting to everybody. As a rodeo queen, people will forget what you say, what you wear and what you look like, but they will never forget how you make people feel.”
The coronation ceremony will take place at Clover Hall on the Greene County Fairgrounds in Jefferson. The crowning ceremony will be at 5pm, followed by a meal with pork loin sandwiches, sides and beverages. A live and silent auction will wrap up the event. Cost to attend is $15 for adults and kids 12 and under are free.
