The new high school and career academy project for the Greene County School District is back on track.

With about one month of delays, due to mostly weather issues, the project is on target to have the new high school, career academy, and gymnasium to be open by August, with the auditorium to be open by October. District Technology Director Brent Gerzema and Project Owner’s Representative Sam Harding recorded a 360-degree virtual tour of the different facilities. Superintendent Tim Christensen says anyone can now go into the tours and see the progress for themselves.

Christensen points out, while the tours are well done, he feels being there in person gives you the truest sense of accomplishment.

School Board President Steve FIsher experiencing the virtual tour

“I had the opportunity to go out there a couple of weeks ago and look. Sam (Harding) has shared some still pictures and different things at previous (School Board) meetings. And when I look at a hallway I was like, ‘Oh gosh that hallway is really narrow.’ When you stand in the hallway you could have four people shoulder-to-shoulder and still have room. So although the pictures are great and the video is great, it still doesn’t do it justice.”
