At the most recent meeting of the Dallas County Board of Supervisors, the session was kicked off with a promotion ceremony for the Sheriff’s Office.

Deputy Max Roll was advanced to the rank of Sergeant, and was sworn in during the meeting by Sheriff Chad Leonard. Leonard says Roll will get started with his new responsibilities immediately, though the specifics will likely change before long. “His first duties will be as patrolman, you know he’ll be on the road supervising our afternoon or midnight shifts for a while. But ultimately the sergeants that we do have, they’ll all get different job descriptions. You know, he might take over our court security and our transport division, while the other sergeants work on the road. But we’ve been slowly getting up to where we need to be with supervisors on every shift, and this is going to help us out a great deal. So (we’re) looking forward to getting him started!”

Roll is a veteran of the U.S. Army, and he joined the Sheriff’s Office around 11 years ago. He also served as Chief for the DeSoto Police Department, and more recently was part of the central Iowa investigation taskforce. His wife Heather, who serves as Jail Lieutenant for Dallas County, also took part in the promotion ceremony.
