Since an overnight fire caused extensive damage to a Scranton business, operations have slowly started back up.
Scranton Manufacturing officials said in a statement that the fire damaged one of three paint booths Monday evening. The company pointed out that since the fire was contained to a small area, smoke damage has prevented them from returning to full operation until the clean-up is complete. Due to that, some of the business functions have been temporarily relocated to other company facilities in Scranton and Carroll. The Scranton facility is now open and accepting deliveries and finished units will ship as normal.
New Way Trucks CEO Mike McLaughlin released a statement saying, “We are thankful that no one was injured during the incident, and we are proud of our employee-family as they rally to get us back to full operation as quickly as possible.”
Employees notified fire crews of a fire in one of the paint booths around 11:23pm Monday. After crews extinguished the flames, Scranton Fire Chief Doug Duff estimated over $1 million in damages, but no one was hurt in the incident.
