The official coronation ceremony for this year’s Miss Rodeo Iowa will take place in Jefferson later this week.

Greene County native Brittany Gunn is the 2020 Miss Rodeo Iowa and the crowning ceremony will be at Clover Hall Saturday at 5pm. A dinner will be served with pork loin sandwiches, baked beans, coleslaw, chips, desserts and beverages. The meal will be followed by silent and live auctions. Gunn has already started her 30,000 mile trek with visits to Colorado and New Mexico and has several more trips coming up to be an advocate for the professional rodeo industry.

Gunn explains the important lessons she’s learned so far from the experience.

“It’s very easy to compare yourself to others, and so it’s just important to be confident in your own skills. Another thing that I’ve learned is that you will have a lot of people tell you things or tell you opinions, so it’s important to make the year what you can.”

Tickets to the event are $12 for adults or $15 at the door and kids 12 and under are free. Tickets can be purchased at the Thomas Jefferson Gardens Education and Welcome Center in Jefferson.
