A fire Saturday night caused considerable damage to a house in Adel, though no one was harmed during the incident.

According to Adel Fire Chief Braden Nemechek, the fire broke out at around 8 p.m. in the home located at 1913 Strauss Avenue, on the south end of the City. The residents were at home when the blaze started, but each of them was able to escape without injuries. The fire primarily affected the main structure of the house, from the front entryway in, and didn’t reach the neighboring houses or the attached garage. The incident is still under investigation by the Adel Fire Department, and a cause has yet to be determined.

The Adel, Dallas Center, and DeSoto fire departments, Adel Police Department, Adel First Responders, and Dallas County Emergency Medical Services assisted at the scene. Additionally, the owner of Big Al’s BBQ in Adel has announced he will be gifting 10% of sales from today and tomorrow to the affected family.
