The ADM girls basketball team concluded a fantastic basketball season on Saturday afternoon, falling to the Dallas Center Grimes Fillies by the score of 67-55 to finish with a great 15-6 record. ADM led by 18-13 after the first quarter and 28-27 after halftime, but a 17-3 outscoring by DCG in the third quarter of play is what did ADM in.
They had a great performance from senior Delaney Bertman, who recorded a double double by getting 12 points and 13 rebounds, while junior Grace Hardcastle chipped in with 14. Abbie Hlas had a rare cool shooting night as she finished with 8 points in the game. ADM only shot 16 of 43 from the field, as DCGs zone in the second half threw them off their offensive game.
The Tigers will have to replace their top two leading scorers of the last three years, with both Bertman and Hlas to graduate in the spring. Hlas will leave with scoring over 1,000 career points, while Bertman while leave ADM as the school’s all time rebounding leader. ADM had their best record in over a decade, as the program continues to evolve under the direction of Jacob Cleveland.
Congrats to ADM on a terrific season, and they will hope to continue to get the ball rolling despite the loss of the two talented players for the 2020-21 season.
