A reminder: the 36th annual Perry Band Olympics event is being held throughout the day today at Perry High School.

The event starts at 8 a.m. and performances will run through 3:30 p.m. at 17 different centers around the school. The judges at each center will give feedback to the students, and awards will be presented following the final performances of the day. Musicians from eight different schools — Ankeny, Ankeny Centennial, Don Bosco Catholic, Dowling Catholic, Waukee, Webster City, and West Des Moines Valley — will join those from Perry in what’s become a key tune up for the upcoming state solo and ensemble contest.

New Perry Band Director Rachel Poss says she’s excited to host her first ever Band Olympics, and she thanks all the student and community volunteers in advance for their hard work in making the event possible. The public is invited to attend, and admission is $3 per person. There will be concessions available, with all proceeds benefiting the Perry High School Instrumental Music Department.
