The middle of March may seem early for a deadline to file for something taking place in November, but that’s precisely the case for a few nonpartisan offices up for election in Dallas County.
The County Auditor’s Office recently informed the public that there is a new cutoff for individuals interested in several open seats. The filing deadline is now March 20th at 5 p.m. for those wanting to be on the November 3rd ballot for offices including Soil and Water Conservation District, Dallas County Hospital Board, and Linn Township Trustee. The petition signature requirements for the positions are 25 for Conservation and 50 for the Hospital Board, and no petition is required for trustee.
The filing deadline is unchanged for another nonpartisan office, with April 26th at 5 p.m. still the deadline for people to get on the ballot of County Agricultural Extension, needing 25 signatures from the Extension district.
