A head-on collision resulted in two fatalities Friday afternoon in Adair County.

According to Iowa State Patrol, at about 3:39 p.m. an unnamed 16-year-old was driving a Ford Escort east on 260th Street east of Winding Avenue when the vehicle collided head on at the crest of the gravel roadway with a westbound Dodge Durango driven by 26-year-old Marriah Love of Orient. Both vehicles came to a rest. The driver and a 15-year-old passenger of the Escort suffered fatal injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene. Love suffered minor injuries and a three-year-old passenger of her vehicle was transported by Life Flight to Blank Children’s Hospital for treatment of serious injuries. Adair County Sheriff’s Office, Adair County Rescue, and Greenfield Fire Department assisted at the scene. Raccoon Valley Radio will bring you more information as it becomes official.
