It’s time to pin on your corsage and style your hair for an annual social event in Bayard.

The 3rd Annual Bayard Adult Prom Fundraiser is taking place Saturday, February 29th at the Bayard Community Center. The event is organized by residents Jeana and Dawn Shepherd, the Bayard Betterment Committee and others to raise money for the community. Dawn shares who they’ve chosen as this year’s recipient, “The last two years has been for our fire department and EMS, and this year when we talked to them at their meeting they said that it was such a profitable event that they would like to pass it on to some of the other committees in Bayard so they could kind of share the wealth. So the betterment committee picked it up and they are getting ready to build a new shelter house, enclosed shelter house with bathrooms, a kitchenette, it’s going to be a great asset for our town.”

The theme for this year’s “prom” is a Black and White Ball, so attendees are welcome to wear their favorite formal attire. A silent auction will be open to the public from 4-6 p.m., and doors open at 7 p.m. for this 21-and-older event. The night will include a DJ, snacks, cash bar, photographer, and coronation of this year’s king and queen, which has been voted on by the community. Tickets are $15 per person, $25 per couple, and tickets can be purchased by calling 712-210-5513, emailing bayardadultprom@gmail.com, by visiting the Facebook page 3rd Annual Bayard Adult Prom 2020.
