The Guthrie County Board of Supervisors again tabled scheduling the public hearing on the proposed property tax levy for fiscal year 2021 during Thursday’s meeting.
As enacted by the state legislature last year, the Board must hold this additional hearing before holding a public hearing on their proposed budget. The County budget is required to be certified by March 31st.
The Supervisors discussed at Tuesday’s meeting the need to have the first hearing on March 10th, and the budget hearing on March 24th. For this to happen the Board must publish notice of the hearing by February 27th. The items and approval of minutes were tabled as they were not provided by County Auditor Marci McClellan, who has been absent for the last two weeks. The Supervisors also briefly discussed progress on their communication plan for the March 3rd special election for the law enforcement center bond referendum.
