The Greene County School Board met Wednesday night in regular session.

The Board approved a resolution to use $10 million of school infrastructure sales and service use tax revenue bonds from the state one-cent sales tax, following a public hearing on the topic. The Board then set March 11th at 6:30pm for the public hearing to accept bids for the current high school into a middle school conversion project.

The Board also set two additional public hearings for March 11th. One is for the 2021 fiscal year certified budget. The proposed property tax levy is $14.66 per $1,000 of property valuation, which is a slight decrease from the current fiscal year’s tax levy of $15.05. The other public hearing is for the 2020-2021 school year calendar.

Additionally, the Board approved a late voluntary retirement request from Co-Food Director Kay Sesker, an agreement with IKM-Manning School District to use their therapeutic classroom at Rising Hope Academy, four fundraising requests, and appointed Superintendent Tim Christensen to continue as the district’s representative on the Bell Tower Community Foundation.

The Board tabled their decision on purchasing Home Town Ticketing for online ticket purchases to competitions and events, and purchasing Earth Networks for a weather monitoring program, due to needing further discussions with Activities Director Todd Gordon.
