A DeSoto resident recently won big in the Iowa Lottery, earning a $10,000 scratch game prize.

LuAnn Grove won the prize in the lottery’s “$100,000 Mega Crossword” game. She purchased her ticket at the Casey’s General Store in DeSoto, and became the eighth individual this year to win one of 50 $10,000 prizes in the game. She claimed her prize last Thursday at the Iowa Lottery headquarters in Clive.

Lottery officials point out, the “$100,000 Mega Crossword” scratch game is $10 per card, and players have 1-in-3 odds of winning at least some money, 1-in-117,000 odds of winning the grand prize, and 1-in-60,000 odds of winning $10,000 as Grove did.
