Getting the opportunity to play at a prime facility, like Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines is a big goal for most high school basketball teams across the state.  “The Well” has seen its share of talent over the past few years.  From the Hy-Vee Big 4 Classic for the past 8 years, to past and future host site for the NCAA Men’s Basketball National Championship Tournament, to the hometown Iowa Wolves.

Wells Fargo Arena is a big stage, and a dream and for 40 girls’ teams across the states 5 competitive classes to be able to compete at the state’s largest basketball facility.  For Adam Jones and his Dallas Center-Grimes Girls’ Basketball team, the road to get to Wells Fargo Arena begins on Wednesday with a first round match-up at home versus Winterset.

Winterset is a team that was up and down through the early portion of the year, but has come on strong over the past few weeks.  The Lady Huskies have won 7 of the last 8 games, with the lone loss coming at #5 ranked Ballard.  Winterset is lead by Freshman, Jena Young, who is having one the most impressive seasons in her Varsity debut, averaging 20 points per night.  DC-G will need to find an answer for Young if they wish to get past the first round and get a rematch with ADM.

The second round of the Regional play would be held at ADM this Saturday, with a Regional final yet to be determined, but will likely be played at Council Bluffs Lewis Central.
