Guthrie Center residents have the chance to flaunt their pride for the town while also supporting a local organization that seeks to improve the community.
The Guthrie Center Chamber of Commerce is having a t-shirt fundraiser to raise additional funds to help support the activities they sponsor and the members they promote throughout the year. These projects include updating the Chamber’s Christmas display at Mitchell Park, advertising materials for upcoming events at local restaurants, and hosting educational events for local business owners. Chamber President Kristen Crouthamel describes the shirts’ look, “There’s two different t-shirt designs: one just kinda has some staples, historical references to Guthrie Center. It says ‘Guthrie Center,’ has the ‘Freedom Rock,’ our zipcode, ‘Tank Hill, River Ruckus, Six on Six, Five Cent Hamburgers,’ and then, ‘Established in 1856.’ And then the second t-shirt just says ‘Guthrie Center: One Hill of a Town.’ A really, really funny shirt that got a lot of votes when we were putting together some shirt ideas.”
Both shirts cost $22 and are in adult sizes only at this time. Orders are due this Friday to State Street Insurance, and the shirts will also be ready for pickup at the same location on March 8th. Crouthamel hopes these shirts will be worn to celebrate the community at events such as Guthrie’s River Ruckus, alumni events, and more.
