An Adair County farmer and attorney has recently announced his run for the Iowa Senate in the November election.
Democrat Warren Varley is running for Iowa Senate District 10, which covers all of Adair and Guthrie, most of Dallas, and portions of Cass and Polk counties. The seat is currently held by Republican Jake Chapman, who is seeking reelection. Varley has owned a law office in the City of Stuart for over 25 years, and has served as the president of the Midwest Partnership Economic Development and Stuart Enterprise for Economic Development boards. His father Andrew served in the Iowa House of Representatives for 12 years as a Republican. Varley previously ran and lost to Representative Ray Sorensen in the House District 20 race in 2018.
