The Perry Public Library invites families with young children to stop in this Saturday, where they can take part in their annual Take Your Child to the Library event.
The program is part of a national observance during the first week of February. However, Perry Children’s Librarian Suzanne Kestel says the first two weekends this month are reserved for the Bike Ride to Rippey and Chocolate Walk, so for the last couple years she’s observed it the third week. Kestel says the idea for the day is to get children and families into the library so they can learn about all the free services available to them, while also having some fun. “So this year we’re doing a carnival! So the children can come in, they’ll do some different booths, and they will get a little pony bead to put on a necklace at each one. We also have face-painting, they’ll get to frost a cookie, and it’s just geared towards the little ones up through second grade.”
There is no cost to attend the program, and it will run Saturday from 10 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. To learn more about this and other upcoming events at the Perry Library, listen to Friday’s Perry Fareway Let’s Talk Dallas County program.
