The Dallas County Board of Supervisors convened Tuesday morning in regular session.

The meeting began with approval of creating the position of congregate meal site manager for Adel, through Aging Resources. Following that, the Board approved a contract with Consolidated Correctional Food Service for inmate meals at Dallas County Jail through the rest of the current fiscal year. Next, the Supervisors approved a grant proposal to the State of Iowa for the Secondary Roads Department, for the purpose of replacing 175 “Stop Ahead” signs around the County. Also related to the Roads Department, the Board approved the purchases of two self-propelled soil compactors from Ziegler Cat, for $106,870.61 and $107,073.33. County Engineer Al Miller then gave an update on road projects.

The Supervisors then approved a pair of operating transfers, the first sending $480,000 from the Rural Services Basic Fund to the Roads Fund, and the second $2 million from General Basic to the Capital Fund. Finally, the Board set a public hearing for March 3rd at 9:30 a.m. to discuss the total maximum property tax dollars for the general and rural County services. The meeting concluded with a budget workshop.
