The 2019-20 Perry Fine Arts Series continues this weekend, with a performance by a familiar central Iowa band that promises to get people out of their seats.
On Sunday at 2 p.m., the Des Moines-based band Grand Avenue Ruckus will hold a concert at the Perry High School Performing Arts Center. Fine Arts Committee member Cathy Clark says the style of the band will be familiar to many attendees, but adds the execution will be what people will remember. “This is a New Orleans-style jazz band, and they’re all Drake graduates (and) fantastic musicians, a lot of them are band men in schools. We had them a couple Fourth of July’s ago, and they are wonderful! It just rocked the Methodist Church (with) foot-tapping and (people) wanting to get up and dance. They are just really exciting to listen to.”
Like all Perry Fine Arts concerts, Sunday’s show is free to attend and open to the public. Free will donations are accepted, with proceeds supporting future events. To learn more about this and the remainder of the current concert series, listen to Thursday’s Perry Fareway Let’s Talk Dallas County program.
