Guthrie County residents are asked to vote for an $8.7 million bond referendum for a law enforcement center addition and parking lot improvements at the courthouse March 3rd, and there are still opportunities for voters to get educated on the project.
Four community information meetings remain with the first taking place at 7 p.m. tonight at the Jamaica Community Building. The remaining are scheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday at the Yale Community Building, with two scheduled at 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. February 22nd at the Lake Panorama Conference Center and Guthrie Center High School Auditorium, respectively. Residents can also tour the current jail anytime from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 8 a.m.-noon Saturdays.
Those unable to vote on March 3rd can request an absentee ballot from the Auditor’s Office until February 21st, or they can vote via absentee at the Auditor’s Office during regular hours until 5 p.m. March 2nd. For more information on the project and cost to taxpayers, visit here.
